Little rituals.
On an average weekday in Santiago, it’s not unusual to see city-goers taking small moments for themselves. A snatched lunch in the Mercado Central, a few minutes of reflection in the shoe-shiner’s chair, a savoured empanada from a favourite street vendor.
While there is a general sense of busyness about this city, there is no great rush. People take the time to enjoy the spaces around them – and are perfectly happy to do so on their own, with just themselves and the city for company.
